Development strategy
At the beginning, there was data
To analyse new markets, understand the projects' economics and sectors' dynamics, data is required. In that regard, I help organisations identify the ongoing or upcoming trends and make sure their approaches are grounded in facts.
I support investors' reflections on potential strategic shifts, by providing insights on sectors as diversified as, for example, digital infrastructure, mobility, wastewater, etc.
I also help them structure their strategies. While the infrastructure sector warrants a large dose of pragmatism and opportunism, market players should not lose sight of their purpose, which is even more important in today's complex environment.
For example, I contributed to the strategy update of an infrastructure fund, which consisted in a comprehensive analysis of the relevant transactions and of the sector's dynamics and condition for success. Among others, I set up a cartographic tool to assist in the analysis.
From the big picture to actual projects
Infrastructure is so embedded in our economies that the sector cannot be understood without a good grasp of larger economic and societal trends. Projects derive their value, both socially and financially, from the public good they produce.
In that spirit, I have founded a publication -infrastructure and development- dedicated to the strategic challenges encountered by infrastructure projects, especially in the developing world.
This is also the spirit of a workshop for Sciences-Po students, who are invited to think about the purpose of infrastructure projects, as well as pragmatic ways to deliver them.
